Caddens creek-corridor and home guide

Caddens snake catcher

A snake beside a new retaining wall, a shared driveway or a creek-side path creates different access problems. Step back, control the route people use, and report the last reliable position instead of pulling apart cover.

Caddens is a suburb of thresholds

Homes and shared access

Compact lots, garage doors, side gates and townhouse driveways can put several households on the same movement route. Bring children and pets indoors, stop vehicles using the affected section and nominate one person to meet the catcher.

Reserve and creek edges

Penrith City Council identifies the Caddens Reserve walking track from Murcott Terrace and the Caddens Road Park–Claremont Creek track from Heaton Avenue. On public land, give the formal entrance, nearest path junction and which side of the path the snake was last seen.

Make the route quiet

Keep people, pets and contractors away. Do not stand between the snake and an escape route, and do not try to pin it behind an object.

Record the last cover point

Use one fixed feature: the north side of a rainwater tank, the gap under a specific step, a garage bay number or the fence panel beside a path entrance. “Somewhere out back” is not useful enough.

Watch only from protection

A closed window, vehicle or solid barrier is better than an open yard. If safe sight is lost, stop searching and preserve the last-seen point.

Call with access facts

Snakes in the City takes the address and scene details, then coordinates an available licensed catcher according to availability and location. A general call-out fee applies; confirm it by phone. Attendance timing and capture cannot be guaranteed.

Give the right Caddens entrance

For a home, say whether the useful entry is the front door, side gate, rear lane or a visitor bay, and mention locked gates, dogs or construction fencing. For a reserve sighting, use the named street access rather than sending someone to the middle of a map pin. Do not follow a snake into creek vegetation or leave a safe path to get a photograph.

Nearby pages are selected for real boundaries and approach routes: Kingswood on the western and hospital side, Claremont Meadows to the east, and Orchard Hills across the southern rural edge.

A possible bite changes the job completely

For a suspected human snakebite, call 000, keep the person still, apply pressure immobilisation and follow the ambulance operator’s instructions. Do not wash the bite or drive the patient unless emergency services direct you. Healthdirect gives the current first-aid sequence. Nepean Hospital’s emergency department operates 24 hours and its public entrance is Gate 7 on Somerset Street, Kingswood; call 000 first for a suspected bite.

For a pet, call a veterinarian immediately. Penrith Veterinary Hospital, 22 Belmore Street, Penrith, lists 02 4721 5494 and asks emergency callers to phone first. SASH Western Sydney, 1 Rowood Road, Prospect, lists 02 8609 9444 and 24/7 emergency care. These contacts do not imply that a provider stocks a particular antivenom.

Grid C4 is regional context, not a Caddens count

Caddens is located within grid C4 on the 2025 Sydney observation report. Its 35 records cover the whole approximately 11 by 9 km square, not Caddens. Inclusion does not establish an observation in this suburb. The count is not a danger score, live tracker or Snakes in the City call-out total.

Use the Penrith and Lower Blue Mountains service page as the geographical hub, or return to the main service-area directory for a wider search.

Call from a safe position with one precise location

Share the Caddens address or named reserve entrance, the last-seen point, access restrictions and whether people or pets may have been exposed.
