How Snakes in the City responds
One call. A coordinated snake-catching response across Sydney.
When a snake appears, you need to know who is coming and how help will be arranged. Snakes in the City uses a back-office dispatch process to match call-outs with working snake catchers across Sydney.
Snake-removal call-out: $350, day or night, including weekends and public holidays.
What happens when you call?
Your call to the Snakes in the City number is handled by our business back office. Give the team the exact address, where the snake was last seen, whether it is still visible and whether people or pets are nearby. Clear information helps us arrange the right response.
- We check the working roster. The back office reviews which catchers are working and available to take a call-out.
- We check known locations. Catchers' known locations are mapped so the team can consider their proximity to your property.
- We allocate the job. Availability and location guide the decision, including whether a catcher is already occupied on another job.
- We discuss attendance. Ask the team who is being arranged and the current expected timing for your location.
Who will attend my property?
Our back office allocates your call-out to an available member of our snake-catching team, using the working roster, current commitments and known locations. Having several catchers available gives us more options to arrange help across Sydney.
Meet Harley Jones and read our Sydney field reports for examples of real snake-catching work. When you call, our back office can explain the arrangements for your particular location.
How does having several catchers help?
Several catchers give the back office more options when one person is already handling a snake or travelling between jobs. Checking availability alongside mapped locations helps improve response times across our Sydney service area.
The closest catcher may already be occupied. Traffic, other call-outs, the location and access to your property still affect arrival. Our back office can discuss current availability and expected arrival for your address when you call.
$350 call-out fee — every day of the year
Our snake-removal call-out fee is $350 at any time of day or night. The same fee applies on weekends and public holidays, with no extra loading for when you call.
The fee pays for the catcher's time travelling to your property, the expertise and equipment needed to handle a potentially dangerous snake, and safe, humane relocation. It covers more than the minutes spent making a capture.
A snake that has left or cannot be located cannot be guaranteed to be caught. Tell us what has happened when you call so we can explain the attendance arrangements.
What should I do while help is arranged?
Keep people and pets away. Do not touch, trap, chase or corner the snake. Watch only from a safe position and tell the team if it moves or disappears. Do not approach for a photograph.
If someone may have been bitten, call 000 immediately. See our snake safety and first-aid guidance. A snake catcher does not replace emergency medical care.
Help before the next sighting
We also offer toolbox talks and property snake-proofing services. These enquiries help households, workplaces and property managers plan a safer response and discuss practical ways to reduce access and shelter.
