Snakes in the City

Regentville · Schoolhouse Creek, Mulgoa Road and the southern river reserve

Snake Catcher Regentville

Keep a safe distance from a snake and tell Snakes in the City exactly where it was last seen. A creek-side path, a business entrance and a residential yard require different access arrangements; none is a reason to approach the animal.

Possible human bite? Call 000 before booking removal

Call 000 for an ambulance immediately. Keep the person still and use a pressure-immobilisation bandage and splint if you can, following emergency instructions. Do not wash the bite, cut or suck it, apply a tourniquet, or attempt to catch the snake. Healthdirect’s snakebite advice sets out the first-aid method. A catcher cannot replace urgent medical care.

Two reserve edges—and ordinary addresses between them

Penrith City Council describes Schoolhouse Creek Bushcare at the eastern end of Martin Street: the creek joins Mulgoa Creek and ultimately the Nepean River. The council’s Nepean River map places Tench Reserve South off Factory Road in Regentville. These are local landmarks and habitat context, not claims of a snake at either site.

Private block: provide the street number, safest gate, and whether the last view was inside, beside a shed or near a fence.
Shared or commercial site: identify the authorised contact and a safe entrance; keep staff and visitors clear.
Path or reserve edge: give a fixed landmark and do not enter long grass, creek cover or a drain to continue watching.

Report what is known; leave species open

Call with the time and last reliable location, whether the snake remains visible, and any access restrictions. Do not handle it, open drain covers, lift stored materials or corner it for a photograph. The Australian Museum’s eastern brown snake and red-bellied black snake accounts describe species of the wider region. They do not establish a Regentville record at your site. Even a clear colour description is not enough to decide that an unidentified snake is safe.

If the animal has vanished, keep people and pets out of its last-seen area and explain when visibility was lost. A search may be possible, but capture is not guaranteed.

Where people and pets can get urgent help

Person: Nepean Hospital ED

For a suspected bite, phone 000 and follow ambulance transport advice. Nepean Hospital is at Derby Street, Kingswood NSW 2747; its emergency department is open 24/7, with ED access via Gate 7 on Somerset Street. Hospital phone: (02) 4734 2000.

Pet: call the vet first

Nepean Animal Hospital (WellPet) is at 50 Mulgoa Road, Regentville NSW. It lists 24/7 emergency care, including public holidays; phone (02) 4733 3456. Keep the animal quiet and call for immediate guidance and current capacity. No page can guarantee treatment for every animal case.

Reduce cover only after the scene is safe

Do not tidy a potential hiding place while a snake may still be there. After the immediate issue, keep regularly used paths visible, secure stored materials and reduce rodent attractants. These steps may make a property easier to monitor but cannot promise a snake-free block.

Counts apply to the whole square, not each suburb listed. A suburb appearing in a square does not mean a snake was recorded in that suburb. These are public observation records, not SITC call-outs, unique snake totals or a measure of danger.
