Huntingwood · industrial and creek-corridor context
A snake seen beside stock, a loading bay or a building entrance is a reason to pause nearby work—not to dismantle a stack or try to identify the animal. Keep people clear and call Snakes in the City to discuss professional removal.

Treat the last confirmed position as the limit of a temporary exclusion area. These steps apply whether the animal is still visible or has moved out of view.
Keep workers, visitors and vehicles away from that bay, verge or room. Do not continue loading over the spot or reach beneath pallets and machinery.
Move back without blocking the snake’s escape. If you can close a door from a safe position, separate the area; do not try to trap the animal.
Tell the catcher the gate or dock entrance, last known position, nearby stored materials and whether anyone or any pet could have been bitten. Watch only from a safe distance.
Do not handle, corner, kill or pursue a snake for a photograph. If it disappears, leave the area undisturbed rather than searching blind gaps.
Blacktown City Council’s Huntingwood precinct plan describes five small, generally ephemeral drainage lines. The lines west of Reservoir Road feed toward Eastern Creek; others feed toward Blacktown Creek. The plan also identifies riparian and remnant-vegetation corridors. This explains why a yard’s drainage edge and adjoining cover matter more than the suburb label. It does not establish a snake sighting at any site.
Huntingwood is a working precinct: loading areas, hardstand, landscaping, stormwater infrastructure and stored materials can sit close together. In a commercial yard, nominate a safe observer and keep forklifts and foot traffic out of the affected zone while arranging help. Never ask staff to lift stock to locate the animal.

Keep the person still. Following healthdirect’s snakebite guidance, apply a pressure-immobilisation bandage over the bite, then firmly along the bitten limb from the fingers or toes upward; splint the limb and note the time. Do not wash the bite, remove the bandage, use a tourniquet or chase the snake. Follow the emergency operator’s instructions.
Blacktown Hospital emergency department is a nearby 24-hour public ED at 18 Blacktown Road, Blacktown NSW 2148. Its main switchboard is (02) 9881 8000, but for a suspected bite call 000 first and let ambulance staff direct transport.
Secure pets away from the animal without approaching it. If a pet may have been bitten, phone SASH Western Sydney on (02) 8609 9444 for immediate advice before travelling. Its official listing gives 1 Rowood Road, Prospect NSW 2148 and 24/7 emergency opening. Call first to discuss your pet’s case and safe transport; do not assume every case can be managed there.
The Australian Museum notes that eastern brown snakes can use open, modified ground and human-made shelter. Its red-bellied black snake account describes wetter habitats including creeks and drainage canals. These are regional possibilities, not confirmed Huntingwood sightings; colour or a brief glimpse is not a safe identification method.
These measures reduce concealed shelter and improve access; they cannot make a property snake-free.
These first-hand Snakes in the City photographs introduce Harley Jones and illustrate snakes and habitat relevant to the wider region. Our office confirms the available catcher for each booking. Species cannot be confirmed from a description alone; keep a safe distance and call for advice.

Our documented red-bellied black snake removal from a Seven Hills warehouse yard shows an experienced SITC catcher handling a snake found on industrial hardstand before humane relocation. The job occurred in Seven Hills, not Huntingwood. It illustrates why a sighting should be handed to a licensed catcher while staff and vehicles stay clear.
For your Huntingwood site, nominate one supervisor or security contact to provide the gate, loading-dock or yard location, induction requirements and last confirmed sighting. See our commercial and strata snake-removal arrangements for workplace access planning.

Counts apply to the whole square, not each suburb listed. A suburb appearing in a square does not mean a snake was recorded in that suburb. These are public observation records, not SITC call-outs, unique snake totals or a measure of danger.
