At a Cullen Avenue property in Jordan Springs, the snake was not resting in plain sight. A red-bellied black had taken cover beneath some tin.
Snakes in the City dispatched John, one of our experienced team members. He quickly located the snake beneath the tin, captured it and humanely relocated it.

Leave the hiding place undisturbed
A snake disappearing beneath stored material can leave a resident wondering whether to lift it for a better look. The Cullen Avenue encounter is a useful example of why the search should be left to the catcher.
If you have seen a snake go beneath tin, timber or another object, keep clear and pass on that exact location. Do not lift the material, reach underneath or try to flush the animal out.
A last sighting gives the catcher somewhere to start
Tell the team what you saw, where the snake disappeared and whether it has been seen again. A description of the object and the safest access route is more useful than an attempted search.
John found this snake quickly. That describes this call-out; a concealed snake can move, and another search may unfold differently.
Our red-bellied black snake guide provides species information. If the identity of a snake is uncertain, keep your distance and ask our team for advice.
