A large red-bellied black snake had found a sunny spot in the back garden of a Shirley Road property in Roseville. For the household, an ordinary garden had suddenly become somewhere to give a little more space.
Harley attended the call-out, located the snake sunning itself in the garden, and captured and humanely relocated it.

Visible does not mean safe to approach
On this occasion, the snake was out in the open. That gave Harley a clear starting point, but it was still a job for an experienced catcher.
For anyone waiting for help, there is no need to make a resting snake move. Keep children and pets away and leave the animal room. If you can see it from indoors or another secure position, tell the catcher whether it remains in place or moves towards cover. Do not follow it into garden beds.
The useful detail is where it is now
“In the back garden” starts the conversation. A position beside a particular garden bed, fence or path can make the description more useful. Give those details from somewhere safe; moving closer to confirm the species is unnecessary.
The Shirley Road snake was captured and humanely relocated. We have not established how it entered the garden or how long it had been there.
