Move away
Bring children and pets indoors or into a closed room. Give the snake several metres of space and avoid sudden movement.
Snake beside the deck, across the driveway or inside a building? Keep others clear and call with your Frenchs Forest address and the last-known location. Our office will check available catchers.
Call-out fee applies. Confirm the fee and available catcher when you call. No weekend or public-holiday loading.
Suspected human snakebite? Call 000 immediately.
Create distance first. Do not identify, corner, touch, trap or kill the snake. Never put yourself between it and an escape route.
Bring children and pets indoors or into a closed room. Give the snake several metres of space and avoid sudden movement.
If it is safe, watch from behind a closed window, fence or other secure position. Note its last-known location without chasing it.
Provide the address, access instructions, where the snake was last seen and whether it is indoors, outside, injured or trapped.
Keep the person still, apply a pressure immobilisation bandage if available, and wait for an ambulance. Do not wash the bite, cut or suck the wound, use a tight tourniquet, or try to catch the snake.
The office needs a clear location and a safe way in. There is no need to approach the snake or work out its species first.
Give the street address and the part of the property involved: house, deck, driveway, garden or workplace. Say whether the snake is still visible.
Mention steps, a side gate, a rear entrance or a managed-site check-in. Keep other people clear and describe the route without approaching the animal.
Our office checks the roster and catchers’ known locations. Ask about the available catcher, expected timing and call-out fee. No extra weekend or public-holiday loading applies.
Frenchs Forest has homes and workplaces alongside Middle Harbour and Garigal bushland connections. On a sloping block, the driveway may be well above or below the deck or garden where the snake was seen. Explain that layout when you call.
A sighting beside a retaining wall or under a deck can be difficult to keep in view. Note the opening or direction of travel from a safe position. Do not lift decking, reach between rocks or enter dense planting to find the snake.
At a school, strata property or workplace, nominate one person to speak with the office. Give the building or gate name, any access restrictions and the last-known location. Keep staff, visitors and residents out of the immediate area.
Do not search by reaching into concealed spaces. These are details to report to the catcher from a safe position.
These Snakes in the City photographs introduce Harley and show snakes and habitat from the wider region. The office will confirm who is attending your call-out. Species cannot be confirmed from a description alone; keep a safe distance and call for advice.

This is regional context, not a promise that either species occurs on every Frenchs Forest property. Never rely on colour alone: age, lighting and natural variation make quick identification unreliable.
May occur around bushland, rock features and roof spaces in the Sydney region. It is non-venomous but should not be handled.
Can be associated with creeks, wetlands and other wetter habitat. It is venomous and requires professional handling.
No garden design can guarantee a snake-free property. The practical goal is to reduce concealed shelter and the food sources that attract prey.
These verified contacts are included for safety, not as endorsements. A human snakebite is always a 000 emergency; do not drive the patient to hospital yourself unless emergency services direct you.

The job is allocated to an available member of the Snakes in the City team. The office can explain who is being arranged. Harley does not personally attend every call-out.
There is no extra weekend or public-holiday loading. A call-out fee still applies. Discuss the fee and attendance arrangements with the office when you call.
You can call the phone line 24/7. Attendance depends on which catcher is available, other jobs and your location. Ask the office about current arrangements for Frenchs Forest.
Keep people and pets away, leave the area undisturbed and update the office with the last place you saw it. Do not crawl under a deck or follow it into vegetation. A capture cannot be guaranteed if the snake has left or cannot be found; ask the office about the attendance arrangements.
Snakes in the City handles enquiries from homes, schools and commercial properties. Give the office a site contact, the exact building or common area, access instructions and details of anyone nearby. Current attendance is confirmed when you call.
