Make room
Step away without abrupt movements. Keep children, visitors and pets away from the area. Do not corner, touch, trap or try to identify the snake.
A snake near a patio, reserve edge or garage is a reason to create space, not to investigate it. Keep people and pets back; tell Snakes in the City where it was last seen so a licensed catcher can advise the next step.

Kings Langley is predominantly an established residential suburb, but its open-space edges differ from a small enclosed courtyard. Blacktown City Council describes Morgan Power Reserve on Vardys Road as sports fields with a walking path linking toward Isaac Smith Parade. Council planning documents also identify Pearce Reserve on Joseph Banks Drive and its creek crossings. These features help explain why some addresses face mown public space, others back onto planted or damp edges, and others have only neighbouring gardens. None establishes a snake sighting at a particular property.

From a window or other secure position, note where it went. If it disappears under a deck or into vegetation, leave that cover undisturbed.
Phone 0411 103 488 and describe the address, gate access and last known position. A photo is useful only if taken from a safe distance; it is never worth approaching.
For long-term risk reduction, keep frequently used paths visible, avoid leaving loose timber or sheet material at ground level, and manage rodents or spilled pet feed. This reduces shelter and prey; it cannot guarantee a snake-free yard.
The Australian Museum says eastern brown snakes use a wide range of open and modified habitats, including suburban fringes, and may shelter under building materials. Its red-bellied black snake account associates that species more with streams, swamps and other moist areas. These are useful regional distinctions, not proof that either species was seen in Kings Langley. Colour and a fleeting view are unreliable for identification. Treat every unidentified snake as potentially dangerous and keep your distance.

Follow Healthdirect snakebite first aid: keep the person still, apply a pressure-immobilisation bandage where appropriate, and wait with them for the ambulance. Do not wash or cut the bite, apply a tourniquet, or try to catch the snake. Follow the emergency operator’s instructions.

Snake safety guidance explains what to do while assistance is arranged. A medical emergency always takes priority: call 000.
Stay clear of the snake and call the licensed team on 0411 103 488. Tell us what can be observed safely, not what you think the species is.

Counts apply to the whole square, not each suburb listed. A suburb appearing in a square does not mean a snake was recorded in that suburb. These are public observation records, not SITC call-outs, unique snake totals or a measure of danger.
