Landscaped boundaries and changing ground levels
Colebee’s Stonecutters Ridge setting brings residential lots and landscaped open space close together. Blacktown Council has a dedicated Stonecutters Ridge development control plan for the precinct. On an individual property, the important features are much smaller: a retaining-wall opening, the gap beneath a side gate, a pool-pump enclosure or materials stored for garden work.
New paving and neat lawns do not remove every hiding place. Equally, a neighbouring open area does not prove where a snake came from. Base the call on the last sighting. If it crossed a boundary, say which boundary and whether you can still see it from a safe position.

Describe the side of the house and the nearest door or downpipe. Do not reach between blocks, remove capping or pour anything into a wall gap. Let the catcher assess the access.

Move people and pets away without crossing the snake’s path. Leave pump covers, bags, pots and timber undisturbed. Mention any locked gate between the street and the pool area.
Open-space boundaries
Say whether the animal is on your property or on managed land. Give an address and access point rather than only “near the golf course”. Do not enter adjoining land or follow the snake through vegetation.

The eastern brown snake is associated with open and modified habitats. The red-bellied black snake is often associated with wetter ground and frog habitat.
These are regional possibilities, not a record of sightings at your address. Colour, size and a brief glimpse are not reliable identification. Keep your distance from every unfamiliar snake.
Once the immediate concern has passed, reduce concealed shelter around busy paths, secure pet and bird food, address rodent activity and check suitable building gaps. No tidy-up or fence can guarantee a snake-free property.
