Jordan Springs lake, path and property guide

Jordan Springs snake catcher

“Near the lake” is too broad for a useful response. A caller in Jordan Springs should separate the water’s edge, a public path and a private courtyard, then give the last point that can be identified without approaching the snake.

Start by naming the space

Lake or corridor

Penrith City Council identifies the Lakeside Parade Corridor as 8.5 hectares of Shale Plains Woodland with entrances from Lakeside Parade, Cullen Avenue and Greenwood Parkway. Give the entrance you actually used, a path junction and the side of the track.

Park or oval

The Village Oval includes a sports field, fenced dog park and other recreation areas. Stop play in the immediate section, keep dogs controlled and let site staff or other users know without creating a crowd around the snake.

Home or garage

Close people out of the affected room or driveway only when that can be done without moving toward the snake. Do not shift stored items, open another exit or reach behind bins to see where it went.

Public path, strata space or private lot?

The person who can control access may be different in each setting. On a public path, keep your own group back and describe the fixed landmark. In a strata driveway or shared parking area, contact the building or community representative and nominate one caller. At a private home, identify the safest usable gate and secure pets in a room that does not require crossing the sighting area.

If sight is lost

Record the time, the last exact cover point and direction. Do not search a garden bed, drain, rock edge or storage area. Snakes in the City takes the location and access facts, then coordinates an available licensed catcher according to availability and location. A general call-out fee applies; confirm it by phone. A snake that has moved or hidden may not be found.

A photograph is optional; distance is not

If a clear image can be taken from a secure position using zoom, it may help with identification. Do not step off a path, lean over a water edge or close the distance for a better photograph. Colour and length estimates are not reliable enough to justify approaching.

Useful nearby guides follow real approaches and adjoining districts: Cranebrook across The Northern Road side, Llandilo on the eastern semi-rural side, and Cambridge Gardens for the southern approach.

People and pets need separate emergency plans

For a suspected human snakebite, call 000, keep the person still, apply pressure immobilisation and follow the ambulance operator. Do not wash the bite and do not drive the patient unless emergency services direct you. Healthdirect sets out current snakebite first aid. Nepean Hospital’s 24-hour emergency department is entered from Gate 7 on Somerset Street, Kingswood; a suspected bite still goes through 000.

For a pet, call a veterinarian immediately. Penrith Veterinary Hospital, 22 Belmore Street, Penrith, lists 02 4721 5494 and requests a call before arrival. SASH Western Sydney, 1 Rowood Road, Prospect, lists 02 8609 9444 and 24/7 emergency care. This page does not claim that any clinic stocks a specific antivenom.

What the 35 records in grid C4 mean

Jordan Springs is in grid C4 on the 2025 Sydney observation report. The 35 records belong to the whole approximately 11 by 9 km square, not Jordan Springs. The square is an orientation label: it is not a suburb danger score, live tracker or count of Snakes in the City call-outs, and it does not prove an observation occurred here.

For regional navigation, use the Penrith and Lower Blue Mountains hub or the main service-area directory.

Call with the entrance, landmark and last-seen point

Tell the team whether the scene is on a lake path, at the oval, in shared access or on a private lot. Keep people and pets away while availability is checked.
