A Hornsby Heights resident recently looked into the backyard and discovered that the garden fence had acquired a very unusual decoration. A large diamond python (Morelia spilota spilota) had wriggled through the metal bars and become spectacularly entwined along the fence, with its patterned body looping in and out as though it had decided to install itself as living garden art. Diamond pythons are non-venomous native snakes recognised by their dark scales and distinctive cream or yellow markings. Removing the snake required patience rather than force. Harley carefully supported its long body and gently guided each loop back through the fence, avoiding injury to the python and damage to the property. His experience and professional handling skills made a difficult-looking situation appear remarkably controlled. Once the final section of snake had been untangled, Harley safely secured it for transport and appropriate release away from the residence.
