Snake Catcher Blacktown

If a snake turns up in a Blacktown yard, loading area or patch of long grass, leave its hiding place alone. Call with the street address and what you can still see. We will discuss safe access, the call-out fee and catcher availability.

For a property in Dean Park within the Blacktown area, see our Dean Park snake removal guide for local service information and what to tell the catcher.

Before a catcher arrives

Keep people and pets away. Do not touch, corner or disturb the snake. Tell us its last visible position, access details and whether anyone may have been bitten.

Call to confirm the fee, what the attendance covers and current availability.

Blacktown’s open country has not disappeared

Housing and industrial development sit among remnants of the Cumberland Plain. Its native woodland and grassland are different from the steep sandstone gullies found elsewhere in Sydney. Blacktown Council’s bushland information describes why these remaining habitats matter.

On a property, the useful detail is often the boundary between spaces: lawn beside a shed, a drainage strip behind a workshop, or stacked materials beside vegetation. Report that transition rather than simply saying “out the back”. It gives the catcher a starting point without anyone disturbing the area.

If you are at the showground or a busy public space

Blacktown Showground and Francis Park sit around Richmond and Balmoral roads. If a sighting involves a public path or recreation area, alert the site manager or council as well as keeping people back. Name the entrance or facility closest to the sighting. Do not organise a group to follow the animal through planting or grass.

At a workplace, stop activity in the affected zone rather than asking staff to move pallets to expose the snake. Forklifts, deliveries and noise can make a clear sighting harder to follow. Nominate a site contact and explain any induction, gate or loading-dock requirements when calling.

Snakes to be aware of

Open ground, creek edges and sheltered garden areas support different reptiles. These are relevant species to be aware of across western Sydney; they are not a claim that every Blacktown street contains all three.

Colour alone is not a reliable identification. A photograph taken from an already safe position may help; do not move closer to obtain one.

The information that helps us most

  • Street number and the gate or driveway to use, especially on an industrial estate.
  • The last confirmed position and the time it was seen there.
  • Whether people, pets or vehicles have access to that spot.
  • Whether the snake is exposed, under an object or no longer visible.

Preventing a repeat surprise

After the immediate situation is resolved, keep working areas visible, reduce loose storage against buildings, and secure food that attracts rodents. Check gaps beneath external doors as part of normal maintenance. Leave natural habitat in reserves undisturbed: clearing public bush is not a snake-management solution.

No tidy yard can guarantee that a passing animal will never enter. The aim is fewer hidden corners and a clearer view before you put a hand behind equipment.

Medical and veterinary help

Suspected bite to a person: call Triple Zero (000) immediately. Keep the person still and follow the ambulance operator’s instructions. Do not wait for a catcher or try to catch the snake for identification.

Blacktown Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department on Blacktown Road. Hospital information is provided for reference; a suspected snakebite needs an ambulance call.

Possible bite to a pet: contact a vet immediately, even if you cannot see a bite mark. SASH Western Sydney, 1 Rowood Road, Prospect. Open 24/7 for emergencies. Call See the provider’s website for contact details.

Booking questions

Does a business job need different information?

Yes. Tell us about staff and customer movement, loading operations and access approvals. We will confirm the relevant fee before attendance.

What if it has gone under a shed?

Keep the shed and its surroundings undisturbed. An inspection may still be useful, but capture depends on the snake being accessible. Do not lift flooring or reach underneath.
